An immense weight settles on top of him, and he feels a fist in his hair once more. His head is wrenched up, turned toward where one of the wolves' jaw is now clamped around Nari’s throat. He watches as her blood seeps into the ground, flowing into the stream. He watches as her body twitches, eventually going limp. And he watches as her wolf disappears, leaving only her torn and tattered human form.
